The Oyo State Government has confirmed its readiness to adopt the Computer-Based Test mode for WAEC exams. Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde has directed preparations for procuring over 60,000 laptops for public senior secondary schools.
This initiative aims to ensure the state is fully prepared for the nationwide shift to CBT examinations, improving efficiency and reducing malpractice risks.
During a courtesy visit from WAEC’s Zonal Coordinator and Deputy Registrar, Waheed Amode, Olayiwola praised the Council’s efforts to address challenges from the 2025 exams and emphasized the Ministry’s continued support in curbing malpractice and protecting school facilities.

WAEC confirmed that registration for the 2026 May/June exams closed on February 2, 2026. The exams will be conducted using both CBT and pen-and-paper methods depending on school readiness. Schools wishing to fully adopt CBT must indicate their interest formally.

Amode warned that students caught with mobile phones during exams could face severe consequences, including the potential cancellation of an entire school’s results, underscoring the importance of maintaining integrity in examinations.
