Nigerian singer Omah Lay has revealed that a recent relationship ended during the Grammy Awards ceremony, describing the moment as one of the most embarrassing experiences he has had.
The artist shared the story during the listening party for his forthcoming album Clarity of Mind, where he spoke about the emotional experience behind some of the project’s songs.
According to the singer, the relationship lasted about two months but had quickly grown intense, leaving him convinced it could develop into something long-term.
Omah Lay said the breakup occurred while he was attending the Grammys and watching a performance by Justin Bieber.
He explained that the relationship had already been facing challenges before the ceremony, but the final split happened during the event itself.
The singer noted that the situation distracted him throughout the night and prevented him from fully enjoying the ceremony.

Despite the relationship being short-lived, he said he had believed it was serious enough that he had even considered having a child with the woman involved.
Omah Lay also disclosed that the emotional experience later influenced the creation of Don’t Love Me, a song on the upcoming album.
The artist said the track reflects his struggle with balancing deep emotional attachment and personal fulfilment.
He explained that when he becomes invested in something, he tends to focus all his attention on it, which makes it difficult to divide his energy between multiple priorities.

According to him, the song captures the conflicting feelings that arise when someone wants to enjoy a romantic connection while still maintaining independence.
The upcoming album is expected to explore themes of love, vulnerability, and personal growth drawn from the singer’s real-life experiences.
