Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has credited global superstar Drake for securing his spot on the Wireless Festival stage, a revelation made during a press interaction on July 10, 2025, ahead of the event’s July 11-13 run.

The 29-year-old, born Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, performed on the festival’s opening night, marking a significant milestone in his rising international career, fueled by hits like Declan Rice and Blood on the Dance Floor. Odumodublvck, who signed with Def Jam Africa in 2024, claimed Drake’s endorsement came after a chance meeting at a Toronto studio session earlier this year.

The rapper detailed how Drake, impressed by his energy, recommended him to festival organizers, a move that bypassed the usual competitive selection process. Wireless, known for hosting acts like Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj, drew 50,000 attendees on opening night, with Odumodublvck’s set earning praise for blending Afrobeats and hip-hop.

Critics note his performance solidified his global appeal, though some question the extent of Drake’s influence versus his own momentum. Odumodublvck’s team has not confirmed a collaboration, but the exposure has boosted his streaming numbers by 20% in a week.
