Tensions between British heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have reignited after a fiery exchange following Fury’s latest victory in London.
Fury returned from a 16-month retirement to defeat Arslanbek Makhmudov via unanimous decision after 12 rounds at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, marking his 35th career win and his first victory in his last three fights.
Moments after the bout, the self-styled “Gypsy King” publicly called out Joshua, challenging him to a long-anticipated “Battle of Britain.”
“I want you, AJ, Anthony Joshua. Let’s give the fight fans what they want,” Fury said, urging his rival to accept the challenge.
Joshua, who was ringside during the fight, wasted no time responding, dismissing Fury as a “clout chaser” and asserting dominance over negotiations for any potential showdown.
“With all due respect, tonight is your night. But you won’t tell me what to do,” Joshua said. “I’ve been chasing you for the last 10 years. When you’re ready, come and see me and tell me your terms and conditions. I’m the boss.”
The 36-year-old also referenced their past encounters in training, claiming he had previously gotten the better of Fury and would do so again if they eventually meet in the ring.
Joshua currently holds a professional record of 29 wins, including 26 knockouts, and four defeats. His most recent outing was an exhibition bout against Jake Paul.

Despite losing a title fight to Daniel Dubois in 2024, Joshua has won five of his last six fights, keeping him firmly in contention within the heavyweight division.

The rivalry between the two fighters has spanned over a decade, with multiple failed attempts to organise a bout. However, Fury’s return to winning ways and renewed callout may revive hopes of a blockbuster clash that has long eluded boxing fans.
