Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso has expressed his delight at having Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface back in training after his proposed move to Al Nassr collapsed.
Boniface was on the verge of joining the Saudi Pro League side, but the deal fell through as Al Nassr opted to sign Jon Duran instead. Since arriving at Die Werkself in the summer of 2023, Boniface has been a revelation, helping the team secure a domestic double in his debut season. However, injuries have hampered his form this term, preventing him from replicating last season’s brilliance.

“He will train again tomorrow. I believe he is staying with us. So I have to say that I am satisfied; I am happy,” Alonso told Fotmob. “He is comfortable here, so I don’t believe that this is a big stress for him. He is comfortable here.”
Boniface has missed 12 games this season due to a recurring thigh injury but has still managed to score eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions. His return is a significant boost for Leverkusen as they continue their title push, aiming to close the gap on Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.
