Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent “2Baba” Idibia has opened up about what he describes as the biggest misunderstanding about his personal life, saying the popular belief that he is a womanizer does not reflect who he truly is.
Speaking in a recent interview with Voice of Nigeria, the award-winning musician said the label has followed him for years, largely because of public attention on his past relationships. However, he insisted that his emotional nature and deep belief in love are often overlooked in favour of gossip and stereotypes.
According to the singer, whose career spans more than two decades, people rarely see the private side of him, one shaped by commitment, vulnerability, and intense emotional investment whenever he falls in love.
Addressing the misconception directly, 2Baba said he approaches relationships with sincerity and depth, rather than casual detachment. “The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womanizer, but I’m actually a lover boy,” he said. “When I fall, I fall hard. I believe in love, and I commit to it.”
The singer explained that his openness and emotional honesty often leave him misunderstood in the public eye, especially in an industry where celebrity relationships tend to be sensationalised. He noted that while fame has amplified attention on his personal life, it has also made it difficult for people to separate reality from assumptions.

2Baba, who rose to fame with the global hit African Queen, described the song itself as both a blessing and a burden, saying its success forever tied his image to romance, love, and vulnerability, themes that continue to define much of his work and public persona.

Despite public speculation about his relationships over the years, the singer maintained that his decisions have always been driven by emotional connection rather than recklessness, adding that love remains central to both his music and personal philosophy.
Born Innocent Idibia, 2Baba’s personal life has long attracted public interest, especially his relationships with Pero Adeniyi and Sumbo Ajala-Adeoye, both of whom he shares children with. He also has two daughters with his former wife, actress Annie Macaulay, whose relationship with the singer was widely followed for years.
Their separation became public in January 2025 when the singer confirmed that their marriage had ended, marking a significant turning point in a relationship that had evolved under intense media attention. The split drew widespread reactions from fans and colleagues alike, many of whom had viewed their union as one of Nigeria’s most enduring celebrity marriages.

Following the breakup, 2Baba moved on with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly. He confirmed the relationship in early 2025, proposing to her publicly shortly after. The couple later tied the knot in a private ceremony in July, with reports indicating they have since welcomed their first child together.
Reflecting on his journey, the singer suggested that public perception often fails to capture the emotional complexity of navigating love, fame, and personal growth simultaneously. He added that while criticism and assumptions are inevitable in the public space, he has learned to prioritise his own truth over external narratives.
Now in a new chapter of his life and career, 2Baba says he remains committed to love, both in his relationships and in his music, insisting that vulnerability, not detachment, defines who he truly is.
