Zenith Bank Plc has announced plans to open a new branch in Manchester, United Kingdom, as part of its efforts to strengthen financial connections between African businesses and global markets.
In a statement released on Monday, the bank said the branch, scheduled to be inaugurated on Tuesday, will support companies involved in international trade and investment across the United Kingdom, Europe and Africa.
According to the bank, the new facility will provide a range of financial services tailored to businesses operating across multiple regions. These include corporate banking services, trade finance, treasury operations and other specialised financial solutions designed to facilitate cross-border transactions.
The Manchester expansion is also expected to reinforce the bank’s growing international presence and support its ambition of becoming a global African financial institution capable of linking businesses and markets across continents.
Over the past decade, Zenith Bank has pursued an expansion strategy aimed at increasing its international footprint while positioning itself as a key financial partner for African businesses seeking to operate globally.
The bank said the Manchester branch will play a critical role in this strategy by helping companies manage international payments, finance trade transactions and access global financial markets more efficiently.
Officials also noted that the move aligns with the broader goal of improving financial connectivity between Africa and major commercial centres in Europe.
The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Zenith Bank, Adaora Umeoji, said the expansion reflects the bank’s long-term vision of connecting African enterprises with global opportunities.
According to her, the decision to establish a presence in Manchester was informed by the city’s growing reputation as a major commercial and financial hub in the United Kingdom.
She explained that Manchester hosts a diverse business ecosystem that includes multinational corporations, technology companies, manufacturing firms and financial institutions.
This environment, she said, makes the city an ideal location for facilitating stronger financial and investment relationships between businesses in Africa and partners across the United Kingdom and Europe.
Umeoji also noted that the new branch will work closely with Zenith Bank’s existing operations in London, ensuring that clients can access a broader network of banking services as they expand their operations internationally.

She said the collaboration between the London and Manchester offices will enable the bank to provide more comprehensive support to companies engaged in cross-border trade, investment and project financing.

The development represents another milestone in Zenith Bank’s international growth strategy, which has seen the financial institution establish operations in several global markets over the years.
Industry analysts say the establishment of the Manchester branch could help improve access to financial services for African businesses looking to expand into European markets.
By offering trade finance and corporate banking services in a key UK commercial centre, the bank may be able to support companies involved in export, import and international investment activities.
Such services are often critical for businesses navigating cross-border trade, as they provide access to credit facilities, risk management tools and financial advisory support.
Zenith Bank said the new branch is expected to serve not only African companies operating internationally but also British and European businesses seeking investment or partnership opportunities in African markets.
The bank added that the facility will help strengthen trade relationships by providing financial structures that enable smoother transactions between businesses in the different regions.

Officials said the Manchester expansion demonstrates the bank’s continued commitment to facilitating trade and investment flows involving Africa while supporting economic collaboration between the continent and global partners.
The branch inauguration is expected to mark another step in Zenith Bank’s efforts to position itself as a major international banking institution connecting African commerce with the wider global economy.
