The All Progressives Congress is ramping up its 2027 campaign strategy in the South East, with Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma declaring that President Bola Tinubu will secure a sweeping victory across the region.
Speaking during the inauguration of Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Umuahia on Friday, Uzodimma said the ruling party was laying the groundwork for what he described as a historic political shift in the zone, traditionally viewed as opposition territory.
Represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, the governor said the mobilization drive was part of a broader effort to translate federal policies into grassroots political support.
Uzodimma said the ambassadors would serve as the party’s bridge between communities and government, tasked with mobilizing voters across local governments while feeding grassroots concerns back into policymaking.
According to him, the Renewed Hope initiative is not just a political structure but a movement designed to reconnect citizens with governance through communication, advocacy, and civic engagement.

He urged the newly inaugurated members to act as the “human face” of the administration’s agenda, stressing that their responsibility goes beyond politics to restoring trust between government and ordinary Nigerians.
Earlier, Abia APC chairman Kingsley Ononogbo said Tinubu’s policies were already reshaping perceptions of the party in the South East, citing the creation of the South East Development Commission, approval of Abia airport, modular refinery projects, and infrastructure investments across the zone.

He described the inauguration of the ambassadors as the beginning of a “new dawn” for the party in Abia, adding that the Renewed Hope agenda was focused on promoting achievements backed by facts rather than political rhetoric.
State coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Henry Ikoh, said the ambassadors would work closely with APC structures across Abia’s 184 wards and 17 local government areas to drive support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Chieftains, including Paul Ikonne and former senator Nkechi Nwogu, echoed the message, describing the ambassadors as foot soldiers for the President and insisting the South East would no longer be left out of national political calculations.
The event ended with the formal inauguration of the ambassadors and the commissioning of their state office, a symbolic launch of APC’s long-term mobilization campaign in the region ahead of 2027.
