Tinubu Hails Tems on Grammy Win, Applauds Nigerian Music Industry

 President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, for securing the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

In a statement released by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu praised Tems for her exceptional artistry and contribution to the global recognition of Nigerian music. This marks her second Grammy win, reinforcing Nigeria’s dominance in the global music scene.

The President also celebrated the rise of a new wave of Nigerian musical talents who have propelled Afrobeats onto the world stage, strengthening the country’s image as a hub of innovation and cultural influence.

“Nigerian music has become a source of national pride, uniting people across continents and showcasing our identity,” the statement read.

Tinubu further acknowledged other Nigerian Grammy nominees, including Yemi Alade, Asake, Wizkid, Lojay, Davido, and Burna Boy, for their role in elevating Nigeria’s creative excellence.

“You are inspirations and role models to millions of young people. The nation remains grateful for contributions to music, job creation, and tourism promotion,” he added.
