Former PDP governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party and his defection to the African Democratic Congress.
Tambuwal disclosed the move in a letter addressed to his ward chairman in Sokoto on Wednesday, stating that persistent internal conflicts within the PDP influenced his decision to leave the party.
The former governor said ongoing leadership disputes and divisions had weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party, making it difficult for him to continue his participation as a member.
According to Tambuwal, the party’s prolonged internal disagreements and unresolved leadership issues had created an environment that no longer aligned with his political ideals.
He formally announced that his resignation from the PDP took effect immediately.

In a separate post on social media platform X on Thursday, Tambuwal confirmed that he had officially joined the African Democratic Congress alongside his supporters and political associates.
Tambuwal said his decision to join the ADC was guided by his belief that Nigeria requires a stronger political platform built on accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development.

He added that he remains committed to democratic principles, justice, and national unity, noting that his political engagement would continue through his new party.
