R. Kelly Hospitalized Amid Alleged Murder Plot in North Carolina Prison

 R&B singer R. Kelly, currently serving a 30-year sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering, was rushed to a hospital in North Carolina on Tuesday, June 17, after collapsing in his cell at FCI Butner Low, reportedly due to a near-fatal medication overdose. 

His attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, claims the incident was part of an alleged murder plot orchestrated by prison insiders, prompting an FBI investigation into the facility’s staff and medical protocols.

Bonjean told TMZ that Kelly, 58, was administered an “excessive dose” of unspecified medications by prison staff, leading to his collapse. “This was no accident; my client’s life was targeted,” she said, alleging that Kelly had received threats from inmates and staff since his 2022 conviction. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Kelly’s hospitalization but declined to comment on the murder plot claims, citing ongoing inquiries. Medical records reviewed by NBC indicate Kelly stabilized after emergency treatment but remains under observation.

The allegations have reignited scrutiny of FCI Butner, where Kelly is housed alongside high-profile inmates. Kelly’s legal team has filed for an emergency transfer, citing safety concerns. The singer’s 2021 conviction for racketeering involved crimes against minors, making him a target in prison, per legal analysts.
