PDP’s Damagum Claims Coalition is Crumbling as Members Return

 Acting PDP National Chairman Umar Damagum on July 24, 2025, asserted that the opposition coalition is disintegrating, with PDP members returning to the party fold. 

Speaking after the NEC meeting, Damagum attributed the shift to dissatisfaction with the coalition’s leadership and Tinubu’s economic policies, citing the return of three lawmakers and several state executives. He framed it as a rejection of the “coalition of confusion.”

The claim aligns with Tinubu’s recent overtures to opposition figures, but coalition leaders, including Peter Obi, have denied significant defections, suggesting internal PDP pressure to bolster Damagum’s position. Social media reflects mixed sentiments, with some supporting the return as strategic, while others see it as opportunistic.
