Nigerian goalkeeper Amas Obasogie has been cleared of match-fixing allegations by his Tanzanian club, Singida Black Stars, following an internal investigation.
The club had earlier announced on February 27 that the goalkeeper would be suspended for three months over alleged involvement in match manipulation.
However, in a statement released on Saturday, Singida Black Stars said its investigation found no evidence linking the player to match-fixing or gambling activities.
According to the club, the situations that initially raised suspicion were later determined to be technical mistakes that occurred during games rather than deliberate misconduct.

Based on the findings, the club said it had withdrawn the earlier disciplinary action taken against the goalkeeper.
The statement also noted that Obasogie had expressed regret over the circumstances that led to the allegations and pledged to address the shortcomings identified in his performances.
With the investigation concluded, the club confirmed that the player has been reinstated and allowed to resume his duties with the team.
Obasogie joined Singida Black Stars in 2025 after leaving Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema.
The goalkeeper has also been a regular presence in the camp of Nigeria’s national team, the Nigeria national football team, popularly known as the Super Eagles.

He was part of the squad that finished third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, serving as the team’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Stanley Nwabali and Francis Uzoho.
Obasogie becomes the second Nigerian goalkeeper in recent years to face allegations linked to match manipulation.
In 2025, Maduka Okoye was suspended from football activities in Italy for two months following a betting-related investigation.
