The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has intensified its ward-level enrolment drive, urging all citizens and legal residents to register for their National Identification Number (NIN). The initiative is part of a nationwide effort to achieve comprehensive identity coverage.
NIMC spokesman Kayode Adegoke emphasized that the NIN is essential for accessing key government services. He encouraged Nigerians who have not yet enrolled to visit designated ward enrolment centres and cooperate with officials to ensure smooth operations.
Citizens are advised to provide accurate information during registration and to use official NIMC communication channels for verified updates. Details about the nearest enrolment centres can be found on the NIMC website.

The ward-level registration initiative began on February 16, 2026, targeting all citizens and legal residents, including both children and adults, to be captured in the national identity database. NIMC is committed to inclusive registration and urges participation across all states to strengthen identity coverage.
This drive complements ongoing reforms aimed at digitalising and decentralising essential public services, reinforcing the role of NIN as a foundational requirement for access to government programs.
