The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has issued a stern warning to Nigerians, urging them to desist from providing financial support to bandits and kidnappers operating across the country. This appeal comes amid escalating concerns over the surge in kidnapping incidents and banditry, which have posed significant threats to national security and the safety of citizens.

The NSA emphasized that paying ransoms and offering financial incentives to these criminal elements only serve to embolden them and perpetuate their nefarious activities. He stated, “Providing money to bandits and kidnappers fuels their operations and undermines the efforts of security agencies to combat these crimes. We urge citizens to cooperate with law enforcement and explore lawful avenues to address security challenges.”

The government has reiterated its commitment to deploying comprehensive strategies to tackle the menace of banditry and kidnapping. This includes enhancing the operational capabilities of security forces, improving intelligence gathering, and fostering community engagement to address the root causes of these crimes.

Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities and to collaborate with security agencies in efforts to restore peace and security in affected regions. The NSA assured that the government is working assiduously to create a safe environment for all Nigerians and to bring perpetrators of these heinous crimes to justice.
