Moniepoint has acquired restaurant management platform Orda in a strategic move to expand beyond payments and embed itself deeper into the daily operations of African businesses.
The deal will see Orda rebranded as Moniebook for Restaurants and integrated into Moniepoint’s broader business management platform, Moniebook. However, Orda will continue to operate independently for now, with full integration expected over the coming months.
While the financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed, about 25 members of Orda’s team are joining Moniepoint as part of the transition.
The move signals Moniepoint’s ambition to evolve into a full-stack operating system for businesses, offering not just payment processing, but tools for sales, inventory, and financial management.
Restaurants have emerged as a key segment in Moniepoint’s growth strategy. According to the company, Nigerians spent roughly ₦8 billion daily at restaurants in 2025 using its infrastructure, highlighting the sector’s importance to its transaction volumes.
Yet, much of the restaurant industry still runs on fragmented systems. Orders are recorded separately from payments, and reconciliation is often manual, creating inefficiencies and room for errors. By acquiring Orda, Moniepoint is targeting this gap with software specifically built for food businesses.

Unlike general retail tools, Orda’s platform is tailored to restaurant operations, tracking ingredients, managing menus, and handling complex orders like combos and recipes. The platform already serves over 1,000 restaurants and processed more than 5 million transactions in 2024.

With this acquisition, Moniepoint is layering payments directly into that system, creating a unified workflow where transactions, records, and revenue tracking all happen in one place.
The integration aims to simplify how restaurants operate. Under the new system, a cashier can log a sale, process payment via a Moniepoint terminal, and automatically generate a receipt, all within a single platform. This removes the need for separate tools and manual reconciliation.
It also reduces risks tied to payment diversion or errors, since transactions are directly linked to the business’s account and records. Over time, this data could power additional services such as loans and performance insights, based on real-time business activity.
Moniepoint is also looking beyond in-store operations. Orda’s existing integrations with delivery platforms like Chowdeck and Glovo will be expanded, allowing restaurants to manage both walk-in and online orders from a single dashboard.

The acquisition reflects a broader shift in Africa’s startup ecosystem, where mergers and acquisitions are becoming a more prominent growth strategy. It follows a similar move by Flutterwave, which recently acquired Mono to strengthen its payment infrastructure.
For Moniepoint, the long-term goal is clear: make its payment system inseparable from how businesses operate. By embedding itself into everyday workflows, the company is positioning Moniebook as a central operating system, not just for restaurants, but potentially for multiple industries across Africa.
