Doctors at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital have embarked on a withdrawal of services in protest against salary shortfalls and irregular payments by the Oyo State Government.

The medical professionals, under the aegis of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), LAUTECH Chapter, expressed their frustration over months of salary discrepancies, stating that despite multiple appeals, the government has failed to address their grievances.

In a statement issued by the association, the doctors lamented that the persistent salary shortfall has made it difficult for them to meet their financial obligations, adding that the situation has negatively impacted the morale of healthcare workers in the institution.

The association called on the state government to urgently resolve the issue to prevent further disruption to healthcare services. Patients at the teaching hospital have already begun to feel the impact, with many struggling to access medical care due to the reduced workforce.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State Government has assured that discussions are ongoing to find a lasting solution to the problem. However, the striking doctors have insisted that they will not return to work until their full entitlements are paid.
