In response to escalating traffic congestion in Lagos’s commercial hubs, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged businesses to adopt flexible work arrangements, including remote work and virtual meetings. This initiative aims to mitigate the severe gridlock affecting areas such as Victoria Island and Ikoyi.

The governor’s appeal follows extensive traffic jams resulting from ongoing construction projects and infrastructure repairs in these districts. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of proactive communication and planning, suggesting that residents and businesses utilize virtual platforms to conduct meetings and operations, thereby reducing the need for physical presence in high-traffic zones.

Reflecting on strategies employed during the COVID-19 pandemic, the governor highlighted the effectiveness of remote work in maintaining productivity while alleviating traffic pressure. He encouraged organizations to reassess their operational modalities and consider integrating remote work policies where feasible.
