The Ndi Igbo Amaka Progressive Market Association in Lagos has signed a memorandum of understanding with United Nigeria Airlines, adopting the carrier as its official airline partner.
The agreement, according to a statement by the airline, was formalised on Wednesday between the association’s president, Chinedu Ukatu, and the airline’s managing director, Osita Okonkwo.
The partnership comes as both parties seek to strengthen travel access for traders operating within Nigeria’s commercial hubs, particularly those linked to Lagos’ expansive market network.
Under the agreement, members of the association, along with their families and business associates, will gain access to a range of travel benefits, including discounted fares, priority services, and lounge access.
To kick off the partnership, the airline announced an exclusive offer of 50 tickets priced at a rebated fare of ₦80,000 for association members across its domestic routes.

Speaking on the development, Okonkwo said the initiative reflects the airline’s broader commitment to supporting Nigeria’s trading community, which he noted includes over 10 million traders nationwide.
“This partnership is about making travel easier, faster, and more rewarding for traders and their customers,” he said.
Ukatu, in his remarks, described the agreement as a strategic milestone for the association, citing the airline’s longstanding relationship with its members and the role of its chairman and founder, Obiora Okonkwo, as grand patron.
He added that the collaboration would significantly improve travel convenience for traders operating within Lagos’ vast commercial ecosystem, which connects millions of businesses across the country.
Beyond convenience, Ukatu noted that the airline’s safety record and consistency in service delivery influenced the association’s decision to adopt it as its official carrier.
The development underscores a growing trend of strategic partnerships between transport providers and large trade associations in Nigeria, aimed at improving logistics, mobility, and business efficiency.
For market groups, such collaborations offer structured travel solutions, while airlines gain access to a concentrated customer base within the country’s informal and semi-formal trading networks.
