Former Olympic Swimming Champion Yannick Agnel to Face Trial for Alleged Sexual Assault

Agnel further cemented his legacy by clinching the world championship title in the 200-meter freestyle at the 2013 World Championships.

In December 2021, Agnel was taken into custody following a complaint alleging sexual misconduct with a minor under 15 years of age. The incidents in question reportedly occurred in 2016, when Agnel was 24, and involved the 13-year-old daughter of his then-coach, Lionel Horter. The alleged misconduct is said to have taken place during a period when Agnel was residing with Horter’s family to facilitate his training regimen.
