A United States court has handed a 27-month federal prison sentence to Christopher Davies for threatening to assassinate former President Donald Trump. The 32-year-old Cape Coral resident pleaded guilty to the threats on October 29, 2025, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.
Court documents revealed that Davies sent a letter from the Charlotte Correctional Institution claiming he had “orchestrated the most daring presidential assassination that this country has ever seen” and declaring, “Donald J. Trump must perish.”

During questioning by U.S. Secret Service agents, he admitted to writing the letter and said he intended to kill Trump. When asked what he would do if the former president was near him, Davies reportedly stated he would attempt to kill him with his bare hands.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Secret Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Patrick L. Darcey.
Davies is currently serving a state felony sentence at the Charlotte Correctional Institution in Punta Gorda, Florida, about 150 miles northwest of Miami. He is scheduled to be released from the state facility in June 2032, after which he will begin serving the 27-month federal sentence.
The court’s ruling underscores the seriousness with which U.S. authorities treat threats against the president and highlights the continued role of the Secret Service in protecting national leaders.
