Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri Opposes Planned Solidarity Rally for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike

 Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has expressed strong opposition to a proposed mega rally organized by supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in Yenagoa. The governor cited security concerns and the potential for disruption of the state’s peace as primary reasons for his stance.

In a directive issued to elders, youths, and traditional rulers, Governor Diri emphasized the need to maintain the state’s stability and cautioned against any activities that could incite unrest. He highlighted that the Bayelsa State Government would not condone actions that might lead to a breakdown of law and order. ​

The planned rally has heightened political tensions in the state, with supporters of Wike viewing it as a demonstration of solidarity, while the state government perceives it as a potential threat to public order.
