
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reiterated the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism and insurgency across the country, particularly in the North-East and North-West regions.
Speaking at a military strategy meeting in Abuja, Gen. Oluyede assured Nigerians that the Army has intensified operations against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and bandit groups, leading to several victories in recent months. He noted that ongoing clearance operations and intelligence-led strikes have significantly weakened terrorist networks.
He further stated that the Army is enhancing collaboration with international security agencies, boosting intelligence-gathering efforts, and equipping troops with advanced weaponry to combat insurgency more effectively. He praised soldiers for their bravery and sacrifice while urging communities to support military operations by providing useful information.
Gen. Oluyede emphasized that while progress has been made, sustained government support and public cooperation are crucial to achieving lasting peace and security in Nigeria. The Army, he assured, will remain relentless in its fight against terrorism until the country is completely rid of the menace.
