The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,500 operatives across Kaduna State to ensure public safety during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The deployment, announced on Tuesday by Kaduna NSCDC commandant Panam Musa, is aimed at safeguarding lives, protecting property, and securing critical infrastructure before, during, and after the festive period.

Mr. Musa said the strategic placement of personnel across the state is intended to prevent criminal activities and ensure that residents can celebrate peacefully. “Our officers have been strategically stationed across Kaduna to guarantee a safe and harmonious Sallah celebration,” he said.

The commandant warned that any individual attempting unlawful activities would face the full force of the law, and NSCDC officers are expected to maintain the highest levels of professionalism and integrity throughout the operation. Any personnel found compromising their duties will face disciplinary measures in line with extant laws.

In addition to preventive measures, the NSCDC has called on residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities or individuals in their communities, and cooperate with security agencies to allow for prompt intervention when necessary.

Ensuring public trust and community cooperation

Mr. Musa congratulated Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging them to celebrate peacefully, promote harmony, and avoid actions that could breach public peace. He assured residents that the NSCDC remains committed to maintaining security across Kaduna throughout the festive period.

The deployment comes amid a broader push by security agencies in Nigeria to strengthen public safety during major celebrations, especially in states prone to criminal or insurgent activities. Kaduna, as a commercial and administrative hub, has been identified as requiring heightened vigilance due to its dense population and economic activities.

NSCDC officials emphasized that the deployment is not only about visible presence but also about proactive monitoring of sensitive areas, including marketplaces, mosques, and other public gathering points. The corps aims to mitigate risks and respond swiftly to any threat to life or property.

Authorities also highlighted the importance of maintaining professionalism, transparency, and accountability among officers, recognizing that public trust in security agencies is essential for effective enforcement. By ensuring a disciplined and visible security presence, the NSCDC hopes to deter potential offenders and reassure residents that the state is secure during the festive period.

The operation in Kaduna mirrors similar deployments across other states in Nigeria, where the NSCDC has intensified efforts to coordinate with local authorities, community leaders, and other security agencies to ensure comprehensive coverage. Analysts note that such proactive measures are crucial in preventing both opportunistic crimes and organized threats during periods of mass gatherings.

Residents are advised to take personal safety precautions, stay informed through local updates, and cooperate with NSCDC and other security operatives. The corps has reiterated that its primary mission is to provide a secure environment, allowing families and communities to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr without fear.
