The Court extradition hearing of Yoruba Nation Agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho failed to hold on Wednesday at Benin Republic.
It is no news that the embattled Yoruba Nation Agitator was arrested in Benin Republic on Monday night at the Cardinal Bernardin International Airport in Cotonou.

According to The Nation, the Court hearing of the extradition of Igboho on Wednesday failed as the Beninoise authorities did not bring the Sunday Igboho to the court leaving those who came to support him disappointed.
The Court where the hearing was to take place is called parquet.

A source told The Nation that the extradition case would be tough for the Federal Government to win because Sunday Igboho was arrested with his wife, Ropo, who is a German citizen and Igboho lawyer had filed for political asylum a week before the arrest.
The source also added that the Extradition Treaty of 1984 between Togo, Nigeria, Ghana and Republic of Benin excludes political fugitives from extradition.
It was learnt efforts were ongoing over the extradition process to avoid a diplomatic row between Nigeria and Benin Republic.

According to Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, “At this point, we cannot back down, all the lawyers are working tirelessly for his freedom”
“Let us continue to pray for Chief Sunday Igboho, the Yoruba movement hasn’t stopped,” said in a live broadcast on Wednesday night.
About report making rounds on Social media that Sunday Igboho has been released, Professor Wale Adeniran of Ilana Omo Odua, an umbrella body of Yoruba self-determination groups, debunked the reports said it is fake news.
Professor Adeniran confirmed that reports of Igboho released was false in zoom conversation organized by Heritage Multimedia The Nation reported.

Adeniran, a pioneer Commissioner of Education in Osun State and former Director of Institute of African Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, refuted the trending reports that he has been released.
He said: “I have just spoken with his lawyer. The lawyer has visited the location where he (Igboho) is been held.
“He was not allowed to see him (Igboho) but they confirmed to him that they are holding him in that location.
“He was asked to come back tomorrow (Wednesday) by 8:00 am to see him.
“I asked him hope they are not going to play a funny game of secretly extraditing him, the lawyer told me it is not possible.

“We filed an application for political asylum for him over a week ago. With that in process, he cannot be legally extradited from Benin republic. I am very confident about that.
“I handle the application myself with the immigration lawyer and he assured me that since that application has been filed, he cannot be extradited. I think we should be rest assured that he will have the opportunity to see him tomorrow.”
Adeniran carpeted those falsely reporting he has been released.
He said: “Why should people be putting out false information that he has been released which is injurious to this struggle and to the welfare and wellbeing of igboho?”

Adeniran disclosed four international lawyers from Benin Republic, Nigeria, France, Britain are on the case but when they saw the trending news, they had to call him to confirm.
“When the lawyers saw the false information, they relaxed, I had to tell them it is false. So can you see the damage,” he added.
